Ninomiya wrote the lyrics to his solo song, “Niji” (虹, “Rainbow”), and played the piano portion of the song throughout Arashi’s summer tour. He later reprised the performance throughout Arashi’s second Asia Tour in 2008. In 2007, the group’s eighteenth single “Love So Sweet” was released with the limited edition containing the bonus song “Fight Song” (ファイトソング, “Faito Songu”), which was written by Arashi and composed by Ninomiya in 2006 for their variety show G no Arashi. On July 11, 2007, the Time album was released with the limited edition containing solo song of each member. Although Arashi’s fifth studio album One was the first of their albums to feature solo songs of each member, Ninomiya did not provide lyrics or music for official release until the Time album almost two years later. In 2004, Ninomiya penned and composed “Kako” (痕跡) for his solo performance during Arashi’s Iza, Now!! tour. Ninomiya graduated from high school in March 2002 at the age of 18. His parents divorced early in his life and his father left the family soon after. When Ninomiya was born, his grandfather immediately came home and named him the heir to the family’s windshield factory since he was his grandfather’s only grandson. However, when Ninomiya was twelve years old, his cousin sent in an application to Johnny & Associates without his knowledge. After attending and passing the auditions due to his mother’s prodding, he joined the talent agency. Ninomiya was born in Katsushika, Tokyo as the youngest child of his family. His father and mother were both working as chefs when they met and his sister is two years older than he is. Since then, he has went on to appear in numerous drama, movie and stage productions, making him known as the actor of Arashi.Described as an actor who can act with his mouth and eyes, Ninomiya has won a number of awards and nominations for his roles. Prior to his debut as a singer with Arashi in 1999, Ninomiya started an acting career when he was cast as Chris for the stage play Stand by Me, which was based on the film of the same name. Ninomiya began his career in the entertainment industry when he joined the Japanese talent agency Johnny & Associates in 1996 at the age of 13. He is a member of Japanese boy band Arashi and is best known to movie audiences for his portrayal as Private Saigo in the 2006 Clint Eastwood war film Letters from Iwo Jima. Written by David Cook, Rob Levine, Sandra Thrift and Russell. Original Soundtrack from SEVEN DAYS IN UTOPIA, music by Klaus Badelt and Christopher Carmichael. Late in the film, someone actually says, “You can’t script it any better.” Beyond that group, those in search of challenging drama - even avid golf fans - might find themselves snoozing halfway through the week. Seven Days is based on a popular Christian novel, which should guarantee an appreciative audience. The only element bordering on edge is Duvall’s trademark smirk, but he spends most of his time intoning Zen nonsense: “You don’t choose the game the game chooses you.”Īfter all the biblical homilies, well-wishing and postcard sunsets, Luke is ready to resume his career in a major tournament that pits him against the rival who beat him before.Īfter preaching that many things in life are more important than a game of golf, the movie drags out the climax with a sudden-death showdown that makes the viewer care whether Luke wins. In Golfs Sacred Journey, the Sequel, professional golfer Luke Chisholm returns to his winsome and wise mentor, Johnny Crawford, for what hes best at: advice. Cook : A special edition of Golf’s Sacred Journey tied to the movie starring Robert Duvall. Talents such as Melissa Leo and Kathy Bates are wasted in small roles. Golfs Sacred Journey, the Sequel: 7 More Days in Utopia Other books by David L. Only a jealous rodeo rider (Brian Geraghty) makes trouble, but even he mellows to the golfer. When his first big shot turns out to be a very public disaster, Luke escapes. Everybody in town likes him - especially the sweet waitress (Deborah Ann Woll) who plans to become a horse whisperer. The story of Luke Chisolm, a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour. After a strong opening montage of Luke’s meltdown, the movie slows to a turtle’s pace.ĭespite his blowup and lingering daddy issues, Luke is surprisingly polite and modest, and he masters every challenge the first time out. The proselytizing comes late and lightly, but, by then, Seven Days in Utopia has long turned limp. Of course, the regimen is intended to give Luke what he really needs: conviction, patience, emotional control - and, finally, the movie’s central pitch: a surrender to Jesus Christ. He has Luke fly-fishing, painting a landscape, flying an airplane, catching fireflies and playing rodeo games. If Luke agrees to spend a week in Utopia, Johnny promises to restore the lad’s game.įew of Johnny’s lessons involve golf. Luke is rescued by cowboy sage Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall), a former golfer who left the tour for the bucolic paradise, where he owns a golf course and several other businesses. Embarrassed on national television, he takes off in his car drives aimlessly and, in the hamlet of Utopia, Texas, crashes through a fence. Young, coiled pro golfer Luke Chisholm (Lucas Black) loses his cool big-time on the last hole of his first tournament, much to the chagrin of his father-mentor-caddie. Why run out to a theater for this much calm when you can stay home with a mug of cocoa? A G-rated movie titled Seven Days in Utopia seems to promise a lot of calm. You won’t always hit what you’re aiming at, but you won’t need to since the alien bugs usually just bounce around the screen waiting to be shot. Aiming is largely automatic, which strips away the complexity from the action. Your tanks turn so slowly that dodging enemy fire is nearly impossible. In each mode, you control one of a variety of tanks that trod across a city and spray giant bugs and cybernetic dragons with cannon fire. The game’s simplicity points to its arcade roots, but they don’t make it any more interesting. I would have been happy to see a boost button, given how slowly your tanks tinker across the battlefield, but the gameplay remains relatively simple. Each button performs the same attack there are no special combos or charge attacks. You move a tank across a battlefield with one analog stick and fire at things with any of the face buttons. Nintendo’s Wii U is one of the most advanced controllers on the market, but Tank Tank Tank only uses this new device for some of the simplest controls since the Atari generation. Namco has migrated its arcade title Tank Tank Tank over to the Wii U anyway, and the game is a flat, shallow experience that fails to justify a retail box price. These two segments of gaming are no longer designed around the same goals, so it rarely makes sense to port an arcade title over to a console. However, while console games have evolved into expansive worlds that can take hundreds of hours to explore, arcade games have remained intensely brief experiences designed to suck the change out of your pocket. Atari was barely able to cram Pac-Man onto one of its 2600 carts, and a lot of 8-bit console ports are pale shadows of their arcade counterparts. Porting arcade games over to consoles was once an impressive feat. He had more of a vision and he was more focused than any of us, even as a kid.”Īfter Donda’s house, the group moved to their home away from home, Craig Bauer’s Hinge Studios. “When I got introduced to Kanye’s room, it was crates of records everywhere. “In my bedroom, I had the typical posters of Ferraris and girls in bikinis on the wall,” he says. It was that same house, Doe recalls, that gave him a clue just how focused his new groupmate was. West gave us an outlet to create music in her home in the suburbs.” “We came from the South Side and we was a little less privileged than Kanye growing up,” Doe remembers. The group frequently worked out of Donda West’s home. Go Getters was a crew, and Doe was definitely part of the crew.” He had the potential to rap, but at that time he was in the early stages of really trying to get it together. Really Doe was a guy who lived around the corner from me. Arrowstar was the dude that Kanye credits with teaching him how to rap. “I snatched up Arrowstar, because he was cold as shit. “I snatched up my little homie from down the street at the time by the name of Timmy G,” he recalls. GLC knew just who to get to fill out the lineup of the group, which was known as the Chicago Outfit at the time. Kanye was doing his solo thing, and then we decided we should come together and do the group.” “Kanye was like, ‘You need to go solo,’” he says. GLC recalls Kanye reaching out with a very particular request. Andre, a rapper and producer named Arrowstar, and Kanye all knew each other from grammar school. Prior to the group’s formation in 1996, GLC was part of a duo with a friend named Andre, who everyone called Birdman (“He kind of looked like a bird,” GLC helpfully explains). Kanye and company didn’t have to look far to find other members. At the time, the only way for us to get any music out was via the Go Getters.” But that's why it was always ‘Go Getters featuring Kanye West.’ The Go Getters was always about pushing the Kanye initiative. And two, we couldn't put him out as a solo artist because of his situation. This is who he wanted to be with and who he wanted to come out with initially. “So we created the Go Getters kind of as a go-around. Kanye also wanted to work with Don C and Monopoly, but there was a problem. “‘Ye was signed to a production company as a solo artist, and he was frustrated that he couldn't rock with our company Hustle,” Monopoly explains. (“I'll pay $1,000 to whoever can find the Don C verse” on a song called “Hater Proof,” Monopoly challenges). The cousins wanted to work with their friend Kanye around the same time that Don C’s short-lived rap career as part of a group called Major League ended. At the time of the Go Getters’ formation, Don C and Monopoly had formed a company called Hustle for their music ventures. “I come from a kind of complicated family,” Monopoly explains. “I quit making beats nine months after meeting Kanye West because he was so good and it was like, why am I even doing this?” Monopoly recalls with a laugh.ĭespite being cousins, Don C and John Monopoly wouldn’t meet until 1995. After being introduced by a mutual friend, the pair admired each other’s beatmaking skills and formed a short-lived production company. The beginnings of the group can be traced back to the day Kanye met Monopoly in 1990, when they were each in their early teens. They were orbited by an extended crew of characters familiar to any Kanye fan, from collaborators like Really Doe, Malik Yusef, and Rhymefest, to the group’s managers: cousins Don C and John Monopoly. The Go Getters were a Chicago rap group in the mid-to-late ’90s, consisting of a young Kanye West alongside GLC, Timmy G, and Arrowstar. Other listeners who voraciously read through credits might have noticed that he produced multiple tracks on JAY-Z’s 2001 classic, The Blueprint, or even the Hov ballad “This Can’t Be Life” from the year prior.īut years before Kanye became a rising star in music and a go getter in several industries, he was actually a Go Getter. Many of us were introduced to him as the guy who rapped through a wired jaw on “Through the Wire” in 2003. When was the first time you heard of Kanye West? Type the next 3 (or 4) letters from the message to get the message key. Note down what letters are printed on the tape. Type 3 (or 4 as appropriate) new letters for the message key.Choose 3 (or 4 depending on how many rotors your machine model has) letters as your random start position and turn the rotors to these letters.Load the file with your agreed settings into the simulator. To send an actual message, follow these steps: First agree which machine model and settings you are going to use the simplest option would be to use the settings from one of the save files pre-installed in the simulator, but sender and receiver can make up their own settings together and each save them on their own device, or share a key phrase password and use it with the settings generator pages linked to above. To send and receive encrypted messages with the simulator, you need to do essentially the same things the real Enigma operators did. This had two security problems that were subsequently corrected: from September 1938 they switched to the operator choosing a different starting position for each message (in effect, an initialisation vector) and transmitting it before the encrypted message key from May 1940 the operator encrypted the message key once only.Īfter encrypting the message key, the operator turned the rotors to show the letters of the message key before encrypting the message body. Up to 1938, the German army procedure was to set a fixed starting position for the rotors (part of the day's settings) and to use that to encrypt the message key twice (to detect keying or transmission errors) at the start of the message. In the case of the Enigma, however, the message key was regarded as part of the secret shared between sender and receiver, therefore it was encrypted before sending.Įncrypting the message key doesn't add a lot of security ( mathematically it contributes less than 10 bits to the effective key length) and, given the security problems flawed indicator procedures caused in practice, the Germans may have been better off not doing it! Such a plain text transmission would be called an initialisation vector in modern encryption algorithms and is accepted security practice. The simplest thing to do would be to transmit the message key (the letters showing in the rotor windows) in plain text at the start of each message. There is a special page on this wiki which you can use to generate tables of random machine settings:Ī wireless station could have been part of more than one network, so the first part of the message (along with the date) would typically include a code (the discriminant) indicating which network, and hence which machine settings, it was intended for. Different tables were used for different "networks", representing different branches of the armed forces. Tables of machine settings for each day of a month were created and physically distributed in printed form. Security weaknesses in these indicator procedures were one of the main ways in which the Polish and British codebreakers were able to decrypt intercepted messages. The method of communicating the settings and message key is called the indicator procedure and the Germans used several different methods before and during World War II. 3 Sending and Receiving with the Simulator. The "Claris Platform" is priced higher than the "Claris FileMaker Platform" and includes access to the applications of the "Claris FileMaker Platform" (FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Server and the free FileMaker Go app for iOS). But the "Claris FileMaker Platform" is now legacy software and at some point in the future it will be dropped (I'm guessing somewhere around 2030 given the complexities involved). The new versions of FileMaker are a welcome confirmation that Claris is continuing to support existing customers. It's hard enough to keep AD up-to-date, let alone some third party's user database, and employee information is sensitive - some jurisdictions have legislation that requires something as simple as "does this person work for this company?" to be kept confidential. For customers with on-premise deployments and, more importantly, custom authentication management (such as Active Directory), the Claris ID is never going to fly. Knowing that this step would be untenable for a significant portion of their customers, Claris is continuing to develop, sell and support the existing "Claris FileMaker Platform" that does not have such a requirement. A few years ago, they introduced the concept of the "Claris ID" and now, with the "Claris Platform", that Claris ID must be used to sign into the application. has been dealing with widespread piracy for so long that they finally have had enough. Right now, Claris have essentially forked the codebase for the "Claris FileMaker Platform" and the "Claris Platform" - what I've been hearing is that Claris, Inc. Natalia mentioned coins and Gems were particularly frustrating to add into the game that at one point were removed during development, but were added back due to the team missing them. The coin and gem mechanic was originally intended to be a variety of colored gems where the player would receive different bonuses depending on what combination of gems was obtained, similar to Poker hand rankings but was proven too difficult to achieve and was scrapped. Natalia later admitted that they were right and that it added immediacy and adrenaline. Keith and Kiril, however, liked the evil demon monkeys and convinced Natalia to remain in the final product. Natalia initially did not like having evil demon monkeys chasing the player character and found them terrifying. Kiril created the design of evil demon monkeys and gave them skull masks due to his desire of adding skulls in games he's involved in. Imangi Studios originally had the aliens from Max Adventure as placeholders. When it came to the game's aesthetics, multiple ideas were conceptualized but ultimately settled for the character to running on a pathway resembling the Great Wall of China or Aztec temple.Īfter the temple design was solidified, Imangi Studios questioned the player character's motivation for constantly running without any breaks and came up with the idea of having something chasing him. To fix the problem, constraints were added so that players can only make 90° turns and perspective be fixed behind the character. This idea was scrapped due to causing extreme dizziness during testing. Keith started the prototype by making a game where the character is always running and can be controlled by rotating the environment from a top-down perspective. Imangi Studios wanted to make a quick game with simpler controls in contrast to Max Adventure's dual analog controls. Development began after the financial failure of Imangi Studio's previous game, Max Adventure and used that game to prototype Temple Run's controls. The game took a total of four months to develop. Temple Run was designed, programmed, and produced by husband-and-wife team Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova with art by Kiril Tchangov. If the player wishes to jump over an object, the screen can be swiped upwards and if they wish to slide under an object, the screen can be swiped downwards. If the player wishes to turn left or right, the touchscreen can be swiped in the corresponding direction. Coins can also be bought by the player through in-app purchases with payments of actual money. The coins can be used to buy and then upgrade power-ups and/or other characters. Red coins are worth two coins, while blue coins are worth three. A gold coin will only add one coin to the player's total number of coins. There are three types of coins to be found while the character is running: gold, red, and blue. While the character is running, the player can tilt their device left or right to move the character to either side of the screen to collect coins and/or avoid obstacles. As the game is an endless running game, there is no end to the temple the player plays until the character collides into a large obstacle, falls into the water, or is overtaken by the demon monkeys. They will not realize that the temple is inhabited by a family of demonic monkeys who wants to devour them. The character chosen will embark on an adventure to seek an ancient and valuable golden idol from an Aztec temple. In Temple Run, the player controls either Guy Dangerous, an average explorer, Scarlett Fox, an escape artist, Barry Bones, a city cop, Karma Lee, the fastest runner in the Far East, Montana Smith, the "second greatest explorer ever" (referring to Indiana Jones being the greatest explorer), Francisco Montoya, a Spanish conquistador, or Zack Wonder, a football star. If you haven't found it yet, there is a small/medium debris field along the eastern edge of the safe shallows bordering the creepvine forest, around here are helpful beacon and mobile vehicle bay fragments. For now it's mostly helpful to get down to depth quickly, but we use it more and more often as we go deeper. Just keep pulling until you reach a setting you are happy with. I really only used its flashlight in the dark but its controls are a little finnicky. The Seaglide has a 3D map and flashlight built into it. Just note that you have to remove your O2 tank from your personal equipment and back into your inventory to improve it. If you've found enough fragments for its blueprint, craft a Seaglide too (1 battery, 1 copper wire, 1 lead, and 1 lubricant(1 creepvine seed)). We need a High Capacity O2 Tank (2 glass, 4 titanium, silver, and your existing tank), a radiation suit (2 fiber mesh + 2 lead), a compass (copper wire + wiring kit), a Rebreather (wiring kit + fiber mesh), and at least 1 spare battery. With our base started, we can start our preparations for exploring the Aurora. We move most of it over to a mobile base(!) towards the end of the game anyway and only one more achievement requires a base. Feel free to trick it out as you please, build other bases around the map, or make do with your X.We need to use all of the resources you gather at some point, so stay ahead of the complicated crafting craziness to reduce that annoyance. Try to keep resources organized, however that makes sense to you.If you see a blue bladderfish (it looks vaguely like a pair of lungs swimming), chase it and grab it. For now, sneak by any Stalkers and grab a couple yellow seeds from a creepvine. They love to play with metal salvage which also knocks loose some of their teeth (more on that later). They are slower than you strafe to avoid them for now. They look like horizontal seahorses and like to get bite-y. Creepvines provide you a source of fiber and yellow seeds they also provide a natural habitat to your first predator, a Stalker. You do have some leeway but not much.Ī little further away from your pod, you soon encounter your next biome, the Creepvine Forests. Keep an eye on your O2, obviously running the meter down results in dying. You should encounter one of the very few tutorial messages, "Break Limestone." Doing so gives you either titanium or copper. Nearby should be some small wreckage called Metal Salvage which can be processed into 4 titanium using the Fabricator. This biome is the Safe Shallows, almost no danger or depth. |
